Wow! Apparently Bali Known As The Spot Ever since 86 Years Ago

The island of Bali has become one spot of international surfing competition. It turns out this island of Bali has a long history to become a world-class surfing place.

The international surfing competition in Bali was only held in the 1960s and early 1970s and even then after the film "Morning of the Earth" and "Tubular Swells" which presents local surf scene is competing in Uluwatu. Since then the island of Bali began to be in the spotlight.

Actually surfing has been known Bali since the 1930s and this can not be separated from the effort of Bob Koke photographer from California who widely introduced surfing in Bali since he moved to Bali in 1936. Shortly after that he was married to Louise Garrett who later To Louise Koke. Louise was mentioned as the first expatriate surfer from Bali.

Then the couple opened a small hotel in Kuta Beach while offering surfing lessons. They lived in Bali until 1942. Dave Prodan, WSL's vice president of communications thought that Indonesia and Bali in particular, just glimpsed and jolted awareness of the world's surfers after the movie "Tubular Swells" produced in 1975 and watched by many in the world. Since then the surfers of the new world know that there is an interesting spot other than Australia and Hawaii.

Although already quite well known, but Indonesia has not been selected secar official host the internationally surfing arena. The World Surf League (WSL), formerly known as the Professional Surfing Association, made Indonesia as the official host of pro surfing competence in 1995 which was held by Quiksilver Pro in Grajagan, Bali. This competition won 11 times WSL world champion Kelly Slater. Since then, the pro surfing qualification has always been held in Indonesia, namely Keramas Beach, Gianyar and the rest in Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra.

According to Prodan friendly community and world-class waves make Bali one of the most desirable surf location on earth. The fame of Bali Island as one of the best spots in the world makes Australian Surfer magazine photographer Jason Childs curious. Then he spent 23 years living in Indonesia to record various life related to the world of surfing on the Island of the Gods, to bring the impression of classic Childs photographed with a black and white filter.
